Youth shot dead near Jamshedpur, head crushed

Jamshedpur, Sep 28: A mutilated body of a 32-year-old man was found lying in a field at Kudarsai village under Seraikela police station area on Tuesday morning. The body was identified as that of Ashish Tiu, a resident of Kudarsai and son of a retired police man. Panic spread in the area following the recovery of the body. The victims bore wounds suspected from bullets.   

A father of three children, the victim was suspected to have been shot before being bludgeoned to death by a group of assailants in the field. The victim’s bike was also recovered 500 meters from the place he was found dead. A cartridge was also recovered by the police.

The police have recovered the body and shifted it to the Seraikela Sadar Hospital mortuary for postmortem. Police suspect the victim to have been shot before being bludgeoned to death.

“We are investigating the incident. We have found several marks of wounds on the victim’s body, most of them caused by boulders. Gun-shot mark on the body is not very clear. But the finding of an empty cartridge close to the murder scene suggests the victim might have been shot also, ” said Manohar Kumar, OC, Seraikela police station .

The OC said though Ashish was a resident of Kudarsai village, he would stay at a rented house at Sonadih village in the adjoining Pathanmara village. He was operating his tractor for a living.

The victim’s sister Sukmati Bansingh who resides at Sonadih has given a statement in which she said that her brother had a clash with a Kudarsai resident, Mahendra Raotiya on Monday morning over business rivalry. A police team is conducting raids for the suspects.
