Jamshedpur, Dec 3 : A 32-year-old youth, Shekhar Sandil, was shot dead late Tuesday night near Peepal School in Devanagar under Sitaramdera police station. The incident occurred around 12:30 am.
Shekhar’s sister, Saraswati Das, told police that she found her brother lying unconscious outside their house, bleeding profusely, when she returned home.
Neighbours alerted the Sitaramdera police, who rushed Shekhar to MGM Hospital. Doctors said he had been shot from close range and succumbed to excessive bleeding during treatment.
Shekhar worked at a private parking lot near New Court and routinely returned home late at night. Saraswati informed police that her brother had a longstanding dispute with two local youths — Rahul Singh and one of his associate of Devanagar.
She suspects the duo may have attacked Shekhar due to the simmering tensions.
Local residents alleged that Rahul Singh runs an illegal liquor distillery in the area, often leading to clashes. Shekhar had confronted him multiple times, and Rahul had allegedly threatened him earlier.
Police have registered a murder case and launched a manhunt for both suspects. A forensic team has collected evidence from the spot, and CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined. Authorities said the case will be cracked soon and the accused will be arrested.
