Jamshedpur : An unidentified youth looted Rs 4,000 from the cash-box of a ply-wood shop on Slag Road under Sitaramdera PS area this afternoon.
The accused who was in his mid-twenty and drunk committed the crime by showing a toy-gun at the shop-owner, Rajendra Agrawal at about 2.30 pm today.
Officer-in-charge, Sitaramdera , Rameswar Oraon said the criminal went into the shop and asked Agrawal to pay him Rs 1 lakh as `rangdari’ ( extortion).
As the shop owner refused to pay him anything, the accused fished out apparently a pistol from his waist and put it at the ribs of the shop-keeper, and next moment he picked up whatever cash was in the cash-box.
The accused fled the spot on foot and while fleeing, the pistol fell down from his waist. But it was later verified to be toy gun.
