Youth held with illegal weapon in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, May 22: Ulidih police in Mango apprehended a youth in possession of an illegal weapon near the banks of the Swarnarekha river, close to the Ramnagar Sun Temple. Identified as Anees Kumar Mandal, a resident of Baliguma within the MGM police station area, the youth was found in possession of a country-made pistol and a live bullet.

City Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Lunayat revealed the arrest on Wednesday, citing that the police acted on undisclosed information leading to Anees’s apprehension. According to Lunayat, Anees had engaged in a dispute with a resident of Ram Nagar on May 2. Subsequently, he procured the weapon from an associate with the intention of seeking revenge for the altercation. However, the police intervened before any untoward incident occurred.
