Youth grievously injured in alleged explosion incident in West Singhbhum

Jamshedpur, Oct 5:

In a tragic incident, a 20-year-old youth, Sao Banra, suffered severe injuries as an alleged bottle bomb exploded at his residence under the Chaibasa Mufassil Thana area in West Singhbhum on Thursday morning.

The victim was swiftly attended to and transported to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital, where the gravity of his injuries prompted a quick transfer to RIMS under the vigilant care of the police.

The impact of the explosion left Sao Banra with grievous injuries, including the severing of his right hand, the loss of all fingers on his left hand, and significant injuries to his legs.

According to the victim’s statement to the police, he discovered a plastic box outside his house in the morning. Intrigued, he picked up the box, only to find a bottle inside, which exploded upon opening.

Contrary to Sao Banra’s claim of encountering a bottle bomb, West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police, Ashutosh Shekhar, presented an alternative perspective. The police investigation suggests that the youth may have been injured while handling a ‘sutli’ bomb. The box, purportedly containing a bottle bomb, remained intact, while ‘sutli’ (twine) was discovered at the scene.

“The youth might have sustained injuries while making ‘sutli’ bombs. The box inside which the alleged bottle bomb was kept was lying intact. Instead, a police team found ‘sutli’ lying at the spot,” stated Ashutosh Shekhar.

The investigation into the incident is underway, and further clarity is expected once Sao Banra recovers completely from his injuries. The authorities remain committed to unravelling the circumstances surrounding the incident, and any subsequent developments will be communicated to the public.
