Jamshedpur: Panic broke out at a private library operating in Sana Complex at Ambagan under the Sakchi police station area when a youth suddenly attacked a woman student inside the library.
According to eyewitnesses, the accused struck the woman on the head with a steel water bottle, inflicting grievous injuries. The assault triggered chaos as students studying inside the library ran for safety. After the initial attack, the youth attempted to flee the premises.
While escaping, he targeted another woman standing in the complex below, allegedly grabbing her by the hair, throwing her to the ground, and assaulting her. Hearing her screams, passersby rushed to the spot, overpowered the accused, and informed the police.
Officials from the Sakchi police station reached the spot promptly and took the accused into custody. Both injured women were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The first victim reportedly suffered a serious head injury and required stitches, while the second woman also sustained injuries.
The incident created brief tension in and around Sana Complex. Police have begun questioning the library operator, the injured woman, and eyewitnesses. The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained. Police officials said the matter is being investigated thoroughly and a complaint is being registered against the accused under relevant sections of law. Following the incident, students and parents have expressed concern over safety, demanding stronger security arrangements in educational institutions.
