Jamshedpur, Nov. 19: Jamshedpur Lok Sabha Yuva Congress Committee headed by its vice-president, Rakesh Sahu celebrated 100th birth anniversary of first women Prime Minister of the country, Indira Gandhi as �Tyag Samarpan Diwas� at Shaheed Chowk in Sakchi on Saturday, November 19.
At the event youth congress members paid tributes to the former Prime Minister and pledged to walk on the path laid down by her. They said that the country today is really missing her.
Present on the occasion congress workers termed Indira Gandhi as powerful leader and a famous Prime Minister who laid down her life for the country. In the 1971 election, Indira gave a slogan ‘Garibi Hatao’ (remove poverty) which was welcomed by the people and she was elected as the Prime Minister three times in a row from January 1966 to March 1977.
She became the PM for the fourth time on 14 January 1980 and was the Prime Minister when she was killed on 31 October 1984.
Present during the celebration were Jharkhand state congress committee secretary Sanjeev Srivastava, former state secretary Vijay Yadav, Ashish Mukhi, Surendra Sharma, Atul Gupta, Shailendra Singh, Dilip Jha, Rohit Sharma, Arun Barik, Anis Kumar and others.
