Jamshedpur, Aug 20: A shocking case of sexual harassment has come to light from Devanagar, New Baradwari under Sitaramdera police station. On August 19, a youth allegedly misbehaved with a woman, forcibly held her and harassed her continuously from 8:30 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. before fleeing the scene.
The victim, originally from Mathpada in West Bengal, is currently living with her family in Baradwari. Following her complaint, police registered an FIR against the accused, identified as Ravindra Mishra, who is now absconding.
Police said several similar incidents have previously been reported in the same area. In another case, Praveen Singh of Ghorabandha was assaulted and an FIR has been lodged against Rahul and Kanika Moonka of New Sitaramdera. Meanwhile, a separate case of fraud has been reported in Ulidih, where Ranjit Singh accused Harvinder Singh of financial deceit.
Police have intensified searches in all cases. Locals expressed outrage, saying such crimes have created fear and insecurity. One resident said, “Daylight crimes are alarming. The police must act quickly to restore confidence.”
