Jamshedpur, Jan 16: Yellow Alert has been issued in Jharkhand for dense fog and mist until January 18 in several districts, including Gumla, Palamau, Chatra, Koderma, Giridih, Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Simdega, Pakur, Jamtara, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Ranchi, Khunti, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, and Gumla.
Jharkhand, including Kolhan, is currently under the grip of a severe cold wave, marked by dense fog and mist. The state experienced a drop in temperature due to the cool winds blowing from the northwesterly direction. As of Tuesday morning, Jamshedpur recorded a maximum temperature of 26.0 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius. Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 6.9 degrees Celsius, while the lowest minimum temperature was reported in Latehar.
Overcast conditions on Tuesday are expected to prevail. According to the weather forecast from the Ranchi Meteorological Center, no significant change in the minimum temperature is expected over the next 24 hours in the state. However, in the subsequent 2-4 days, a gradual increase in minimum temperature is expected.
Residents have been advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility caused by fog and mist during this period.
