Jamshedpur: Friday brought a sigh of relief for the people residing in the low lying areas of the city, as sky remained clear most parts of the city. However, experts opined that the rain God may play spoil sport due to monsoons.

The heavy rains due Yaas has hit normal life. Swarnarekha and Kharkhai rivers were inching to danger marks in this steel city on Thursday and Friday as incessant rains since Wednesday submerged about 200 houses in the low-lying areas.
The good news doesn’t end here. In its afternoon bulletin, both the Patna and Ranchi Meteorological Centres said the deep depression which resulted in the shower show, was moving in the north westwards direction and that it would continue the largesse for another 24 hours or so.
Baghbera New Colony, Nirmal Nagar, Shastrinagar and Jugsalai are much affected by the rains. “In both the rivers water level is on a receding mode but we need to be constantly vigil as Odisha is receiving heavy rains without interruption for last few days,” said senior official at district flood control cell. There was, however no report of any loss of life due to the flood-like situation and East Singhbhum district administration has shifted the affected families living in low-lying areas of Bagbera to a nearby primary school building during the day. The administration has appealed to others living in low-lying areas to shift to safer places in view of the rising water levels of the two rivers.
The water level of rivers Subarnarekha and Kharkai, swelled alarmingly yesterday due to releasing of water from Chandil and neighbouring Odisha’s dams, was receding fast today as rains stopped and brightsunshine came out.
Water level of the twin rivers rose dangerously since yesterday morning due to incessant rains for the couple of days and opening up of sluice gates of the dams, submerged several low-lying areas likeJugsalai, Bagbera, Shastrinagar, Adityapur, Mango, Searikela in East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts.
