XLRI’s annual business summit Ensemble begins today

Jamshedpur, Nov. 12: Once again the city-based B-school XLRI is abuzz with activity and excitement as it gets ready for Ensemble, the annual business summit, which will take from November 13 – 15, 2015.

Inspired by the theme ‘Progressive India: Winds of Change,’ ‘Ensemble’ will see a congregation of some of the best minds from across the country.

The three-day extravaganza will be flagged off with an official inauguration on Friday, November 13, including a leadership talk by Shyaam Subramanian, senior city director at Teach for India.

Business schools across the nation, like IIM-A, IIM-B, IIM-L, FMS, IIM-S, NMIMS and MDI to name a few, will send their top talent to compete in a series of challenging competitions across business, cultural and informal domains for prizes worth Rs. 15 lakh.

Performing at ‘Ensemble’ this years is Indian Ocean, a rock band that pioneered fusion rock music in India. On November 13, they promise to enthral the audience, as music native to the sub-continent will coalesce seamlessly with traditions of other genres like jazz and rock.

‘Ensemble’ also has the best in the comedy business – Abish Matthew and Kaneez Surka lined up for a night of rib-tickling fun. Completing the line-up is an Electronic Dance Music night by one of the most popular names in the circuit – Nucleya, featuring Sickflip. The organizing team for ‘Ensemble’ will be selling the passes for the events at various locations in Jamshedpur.

On the cards for events this year is ‘The Next Gen Leader’ – a hunt for the ultimate leader, panning all domains with a winner takes all prize of Rs. 1 lakh. The flagship events include Prometheus (finance, powered by SBI), Circus Maximus (marketing), War of Wits (human resources), Strike or Yield (industrial relations), Genesis (entrepreneurship), Strategikon (strategy) and Helios (operations, powered by HPCL) – an eclectic mix to engage the varied proficiencies of the budding leaders visiting the campus.

There are over 50 events scheduled across the three days, which have been designed to test the students on an intellectual and creative basis using tools such as live projects, case studies and simulations.

The spectrum of events in store ranges outside the business domain as well. NBA Jam is a 3-on-3 basketball tournament showcasing some of the best sporting spirit at XLRI.

The International Student Exchange Program of XLRI is conduction Model United Nations in collaboration with ‘Ensemble,’ which will test the strategic, diplomatic and realpolitik skills of the delegates from across the country.

Dracula, the theatre and cultural committee, has put together an impressive lineup of events that include Pictionary, Just a Minute Debate, Spell-Bee, Acting Duo in partnership with the Professors at XLRI, 20 Questions and Solaris, to name a few. A XLRI’s very own rock band, Bodhi Tree will perform some popular numbers to engage the crowd.

‘Ensemble 2015’ promises to be an enthralling extravaganza that engages every palate while also staying true to the XLRI motto of working for the greater good.
