Jamshedpur, Nov. 11: A student of XLRI�Xavier School of Management was found dead early on Saturday in a bathroom of a room at the Peerless Inn hotel at Kolkata with wounds of stab on his neck.
Harsh Balani, a 24-year-old engineering graduate in his second year of business management at XLRI, had checked into the hotel at 12 Jawaharlal Nehru Road on Thursday.
The police officials said that prima facie circumstantial evidence point the case of suicide. However, no suicide note was recovered. �It is too early to comment. We will study all angles, including murder, will be looked into. We are awaiting the post-mortem report,� an officer.
Investigators have collected CCTV footage from the hotel to check if Harsh had any guest during his stay at the hotel.
� As per our information his friends have said he did not tell them where he was going. They came to know where he was after checking his laptop, which contained details of him using a travel portal to book his ticket to Kolkata and a room at the Peerless Inn,� the officer said.
A communiqu� issued by XLRI said:� We are extremely sad to inform you about the sudden demise of one of our students – Harsh Bhalani in a hotel in Kolkata. Harsh was a 2nd-year Business Management student. Harsh hails from Upleta, Rajkot district in Gujarat. A post-mortem is underway ascertaining the sudden cause of his untimely demise. A prayer meeting was held this evening in XLRI to condole his untimely demise.�
