XLRI Teams Shine at Global Competition in Los Angeles

Jamshedpur: Teams from XLRI – Xavier School of Management have secured top honors at the prestigious International Business Ethics and Sustainability Case Competition (IBESCC) 2026, hosted by Loyola Marymount University (LMU), USA.

The competition, held in a hybrid format from April 13 to 17, featured 59 teams from 41 universities across seven countries. Over 270 participants competed before an eminent panel of international judges in what is regarded as one of the world’s foremost platforms for discourse on business ethics.

Multiple Accolades for XLRI Teams

XLRI teams dominated the highly competitive Online Division, demonstrating exceptional ethical reasoning and sustainability-driven problem-solving:

• Team “Nexus Corporation”: Emerged as the standout performer, clinching the Winner’s title in both the 25-minute and 10-minute presentation categories. They also secured the Runners-Up position in the 90-second sustainability pitch.

• Teams “BE Consulting” and “The Climate Compensators”: Both teams brought further laurels to the institute, each securing Runners-Up positions in the 25-minute presentation category.

Rigorous Preparation and Mentorship

The success of these teams stems from the sustained efforts of the JRD Tata Foundation for Business Ethics, which mentored the participants through a grueling preparation process. The three teams were selected through a rigorous internal screening of nearly 30 competing groups within the institute.

Continuous mentorship and structured training allowed the students to integrate complex ethical, legal, financial, and environmental considerations into viable business solutions.

Testing Ethical and Analytical Excellence

The IBESCC challenges students across three distinct formats:

1. 25-Minute Case Analysis: A comprehensive breakdown of a business problem.

2. 10-Minute Ethical Deep-Dive: An expansion on the moral implications of the case.

3. 90-Second Sustainability Pitch: A high-pressure elevator pitch on environmental impact.

The XLRI students’ performance reflects the institution’s long-standing emphasis on values-based education and its mission to form responsible, socially conscious leaders for the global industrial landscape.
