Jamshedpur: A bomb hoax was reported at the campus of XLRI – Xavier School of Management on Tuesday. The institute received an email threatening to blow up the premises with a bomb, triggering panic on the campus.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the threatening email may have originated from Pakistan. The message claimed that attackers would use a drone to target the institute. After receiving the alert, authorities checked the campus as a precautionary measure.
Police and district administration teams rushed to the spot soon after the incident came to light. Officials deployed the bomb disposal squad and dog squad to conduct a thorough search of the campus.
Security personnel scanned the premises and surrounding areas to ensure safety.
The college administration informed Piyush Pandey, Senior Superintendent of Police of Jamshedpur, about the threatening email. Police secured the campus and restricted entry of outsiders.
Earlier, authorities had received similar threats targeting several locations in Ranchi, including the court complex. Following the latest threat, security agencies have increased vigilance across the state.
The incident has created concern in Jamshedpur, as this is the first time the city’s premier management institute has received such a threat.
