Jamshedpur, June 17: XLRI Delhi-NCR just concluded its induction and inauguration for its incoming batch of PGDM – BM (Business Management) students. XLRI Delhi-NCR had started operations in 2020 and this is the 4th batch of incoming BM students.
Taking a measured approach to growth without compromising quality of students, the campus has been steadily increasing its intake. In the first batch there were only 71 students, while the current batch has 180.
The XLRI Delhi-NCR campus has been an exemplar of how to start a new campus. The educational sector, specifically b-schools, abound with examples of new campuses operating at a level significantly lower than their corresponding older campuses.
Operating with the motto of ‘One XLRI’, the new campus breached the top 10 b-schools in terms of average salaries in its first two placement cycles itself. At 31.8 lakhs per annum, the average salaries at XLRI Delhi NCR are higher than those reported at peer institutions like IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore, MDI Gurgaon and IIFT. What has helped it reach this level has been a well thought out integration of processes with the Jamshedpur campus. They share the same admission process, curriculum, placement process and even the same board of governors.
According to Fr Casimir, SJ, Director XLRI Delhi-NCR, “Admittedly, the cohort of students, each year, is of higher and higher caliber and far more fiercely focused and driven. The personalised approach, enabling culture and cutting-edge curriculum at XLRI will nurture them into thought-leaders who will shape the future, entrepreneurs who will ride the next wave of innovation placing people at the heart of every venture , and visionary change- makers for the greater common good .”
The guest speakers at the inaugural session included several prominent names from the corporate world including Rajesh Ramakrishnan 2nd degree connection, Managing Director at Perfetti Van Melle India; Kalyan Chakrabarti, CEO, Emaar India, and Digvijay Ghosh, Partner EY. The speakers talked to the students about what to expect in a corporate career and how best to leverage your time spent in a B-school.
There were also several preparatory sessions where the students were introduced to the case methodology, to using excel and to several other aspects of life in XLRI.
The batch is well diversified with representatives from all over the country representing most of the leading undergraduate institutions of the country. About 70% of the batch has work experience and around 60 % of the batch are engineering graduates.
