Jamshedpur, June 11: The X-ray department at the old MGM Hospital in Sakchi has been permanently closed as part of the ongoing transition to the new campus at Dimna. From Wednesday onwards, all patients requiring radiology services will have to visit the new hospital building at Dimna, which is equipped with state-of-the-art X-ray machines and trained technical staff.

Previously, OPD services for orthopaedics and surgery had already shifted to the new location, but patients were still being sent back to the Sakchi campus for X-rays. This caused considerable inconvenience, requiring patients to travel between the two locations. With the X-ray unit now operational in the new facility, patients can avail of consultations and diagnostics under one roof.

The old X-ray room in Sakchi has been locked and hospital management has confirmed that no radiological services will be offered there. “This step was taken keeping patient convenience in mind. The new facility ensures faster diagnostics and improved transparency,” said a senior MGM official. He added that other departments will also be moved gradually.

Both doctors and patients have welcomed the move. “Now that OPD and diagnostic services are in the same place, treatment will be smoother,” said a surgeon. An elderly patient echoed the sentiment, saying, “Earlier we had to travel twice for a report. Now everything will be done here—it’s a big relief.”

The hospital administration aims to fully integrate all services at the Dimna campus in the coming weeks for better efficiency and patient care.
