Worship of Goddess Vipatarini at Rankini Mandir

Jamshedpur, July 6: Devotees today thronged the Shri-Shri Rankini Mandir at Kadma to offer prayers to Goddess Vipatarini for safety from all forms of dangers and omen throughout the year. The prayer rituals are performed by women who observe fast till prayers are over. A red string with grass shoots tied to it is wound round the left wrists of women and on the right for men. This ritual ensures safety with the blessings of the deity.

Rankini Mandir president Dipak Das and general secretary Janardan Pandey explained that Mother Vipatarini was another form of Goddess Durga. According to holy scriptures, worship of Ma Vipatarini ensures protection from evil and all forms of harmful effects. Women maintain fast on this occasion and listen to the renditions of passages related to Goddess Vipatarini.

The huge crowd of devotees at the temple was managed by a team consisting KG Govind, AR Dey, Rajendra Jaiswal, PK Singh, Ram Kishore Singh, Dipak Biswas, Sanjay, Subhash Kumar Singh, Manoj, Harbhajan Singh and others.

Goddess Vipatarini was also worshipped at several other temples in the city including Sakchi Durga Bari on Chenab Road.
