Jamshedpur, Mar 20: The Department of Zoology at Karim City College, Sakchi, Jamshedpur, organized a special program on World Sparrow Day to raise awareness about the conservation of the endangered sparrow population. The event was presided over by Principal Dr. Mohammad Reyaz, who, in his address, highlighted the alarming decline of sparrows due to rapid urbanization and human interference.
“Birds, especially sparrows, are disappearing at an alarming rate and it is our responsibility to take steps to protect them,” Dr. Reyaz stated.
The event featured various competitions, including painting, music, slogan writing and poetry recitations. A rally was also organized to spread awareness. Dr. Shashi Prabha, Head of the Zoology Department, made an appeal to citizens to create a bird-friendly environment and to spread the message of sparrow conservation throughout society.
