Cyber thugs target relatives of Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer

Ranchi, March 20: Cyber criminals are constantly trying to cheat VIPs and common people by changing their profiles. In which they are also succeeding.

This time cyber criminals have tried to cheat the son and some close ones of the Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar.

A complaint has been lodged by K Ravi Kumar in the Cyber Police Station of Ranchi regarding the matter. In which it has been told by the Chief Electoral Officer that cyber thugs sent messages to some of his acquaintances by putting his picture in the DP of WhatsApp and asked for Rs 50,000 from them by giving various reasons.

When some acquaintances of the Chief Electoral Officer contacted him and informed him about this, then he came to know that cyber criminals are trying to cheat his close ones by putting his DP. After this, he has lodged a complaint in the Cyber Police Station of Ranchi.

The number is from neighbouring country Sri Lanka.

After the complaint of the Chief Electoral Officer, the Cyber Crime Branch is investigating the matter. As per the information received so far, the number from which the fraud was attempted is from Sri Lanka. However, cyber criminals use many types of apps to display foreign numbers. Currently, the Cyber Crime Branch is investigating the entire matter.

Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand K Ravi Kumar said that many close people including his son were sent messages from his WhatsApp DP demanding money. When his acquaintances informed him about the matter, he contacted the cyber police. The screenshot of the message sent by cyber criminals to K Ravi Kumar has also been provided to the cyber police station.
