Jamshedpur, Feb 18: In a shocking incident, a 29-year-old man was lynched to death by a group of four persons at Chhayanagar under the Sitaramdera police station area in the wee hours of Thursday.
The victim was identified as Sunil Das, a resident of the same locality, who worked as a mason. He was beaten to death as he had allegedly intruded a house in the neighborhood under the influence of liquor.
The police have nabbed two of the assailants, whereas two others managed to flee the area soon after committing the crime.
Those arrested have been identified as Ganesh Sharma (27) and Radhe Shyam Prasad (32), both residents of the same locality. The absconding accuseds were identified as Rakesh Bhuiyan (28) and Vishwanath Prasad (35).
Deputy superintendent of police (headquarters-I) KN Mishra said that Das was attacked and eventually beaten to death as he had entered into a house with some wrong motive.
“As per our investigation Das had entered the house Rakesh Bhuiyan wearing an undergarment. As soon as Rakesh learnt about it, he caught hold of Das and raised alarm, leading three more neighbours to wake up and rush to the spot.
They all dragged the victim outside and continued beat him till he did not turn motionless,” said Mishra.
Mishra, who had also visited at the spot, said the murder took place in front of the house of Vishwanath Prasad’s house where they thrashed the man to death.
Sources in Chhayanagar said that the murder victim was drunk and he had intruded into the neighbor�s house with some intension, reportedly meeting a woman at Bhuiyan’s house.
Mishra confirmed that the reason behind the murder was an illicit relation with a woman, mentioning that Bhuiyan, who is the owner of the house in question, is absconding.
