World Indigenous Day celebrated in Potka

Jamshedpur: Akhil Bharatiya Birsa Munda Adivasi Sanskritik Manch organized International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples at Paryavaran Chetna Kendra, Bada Sikdi, Potka, on Wednesday.

The programme started with the garlanding of a statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion, the outfit member Vibhishan Sardar said the basis of live for the Adivasis was Jal, Jangal and Jameen (water, forest and land).

He said the people of the world should unanimously take a vow to protect the natural resources to protect the Adivasis. He said saving the existence of the Adivasis was necessary in order to save the cultural heritage of Jharkhand.

Among those present on the occasion included Bariyar Mardi, Sukumar Mardi, Lard Bhumij, Sanjay Sardar and Shivpati Sardar.
