Jamshedpur, June 19: The Education department organized a district level workshop on the Back to School Campaign 2023 at the Andhra Association Auditorium. Representatives from various departments, including Director DRDA, Additional Deputy Commissioner, District Education Officer, District Panchayati Raj Officer, District Public Relations Officer, BEEO, BRP, CRP, and PRI, actively participated in the workshop.
The Back to School Campaign, running from June 16, 2023, to July 15, 2023, aims to achieve 100 percent enrollment of all children between the ages of 6 and 18. District Education Officer, Nirmala Barelia, emphasized the importance of enrolling out-of-school children, non-resident children, unenrolled children, and children with special needs. The campaign also focuses on ensuring the enrollment and attendance of all previously enrolled students from grades 1 to 11 in the next academic year. Other objectives include monitoring attendance through e-VidyaVahini, promoting regular monitoring, and ensuring 100 percent attendance of enrolled children. A household survey will be conducted to identify unenrolled and out-of-school children.
Addressing the participants, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jaideep Tigga, highlighted the need for regular review and monitoring of the campaign’s progress at the district level. He urged all relevant departments to actively participate and provide information about scholarships and departmental schemes during the door-to-door survey. Tigga encouraged school principals to prioritize the holistic development of students, emphasizing the inclusion of sports, yoga, and other activities. Furthermore, he announced that teachers from schools with 100 percent enrollment of children in their respective areas would be rewarded.
During the workshop, it was acknowledged that bringing children back to school and ensuring regular attendance remains a challenge. To overcome this, collective efforts involving school management committees, teachers, panchayat representatives, social workers, public representatives, and education-related workers and officers need to be initiated. These efforts will focus on reaching out to migrant children, out-of-school children, and parents/guardians of children with special needs to ensure that every child between the ages of 6 and 18 is enrolled in school and completes their secondary education. To further enhance the campaign’s success, block level workshops will be organized on June 21, chaired by Block Development Officers (BDOs). Additionally, a school-level meeting is scheduled for June 22, under the chairmanship of the School Management Committee’s chairman, with the participation of public representatives, all members of the school management/village education committee, parents, mother committees, NGOs, BRP, and CRP.
