Gamharia: A workshop was organized at the Community Health Centre in Gamharia with a view to train health department staff on how to control vector-borne diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya.
It was organized under the aegis of District Health Committee. The health staff were asked by the committee to launch a public awareness campaign in Adityapur Nagar Parishad area.
District malaria officer Dr KK Sehgal said that high fever with sudden headache was the main symptom of dengue and chikungunya.
He said the vector-borne diseases could be prevented by ensuring that the mosquito larvae are not allowed to breed.
People should be educated and asked to remove water from waterlogged parts in their households to prevent breeding of mosquito larvae, he said.
Many people were present during the workshop. They included district Civil Surgeon Dr AK Sinha, Dr Balram Murmu, Tanushmita Nayak, Chandradeep Ram, Santosh Sahu and Jitendra Kumar.
