Seraikela: Swachh Shakti Samman Samaroh was organized in Seraikela-Kharsawan on the occasion of International Women’s Day on Thursday. The chief guest of the programme was the Deputy Commissioner of Seraikela-Khasawan Chhavi Ranjan.
In his address, the DC said the womenfolk had made a considerable contribution to the Swachhata Mission in the district. He said women had actively participated in the campaign launched in different blocks of the district.
Making an appeal to all women to come forth and actively participate in the toilet construction campaign, he said the state government was giving Rs 12,000 per family for constructing toilet in each and every house. He said the Swachh Bharat campaign had assumed the shape of a mass movement across the country.
Also present during the event was Zila Parishad president Shakuntala Mahali. She said women were actively taking part in different social and political campaigns. She said the government schemes were proving beneficial for women.
DDC Akansha Ranjan said women’s struggle against open defecation was commendable. She stressed on greater participation and awareness of women on the issue.
