Jamshedpur, Jan 16: Muslim women held a rally at Mango Idgah Maidan in protest against the implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National register of Citizens (NRC). Later they marched to Gandhi Maidan in Mango and launched an agitation programme.
During the meeting at Idgah Maidan, women speakers demanded the withdrawal of NRC and CAA. They stated that their agitation would continue until both, CAA and NRC laws were removed. Later, the Muslim women took out a procession upto the Gandhi Maidan in Mango.
On January 31, the women will hold a protest before the DCs office. The All India Social Minority Welfare Front has already sent information in this regard to the DC and SSP of East Singhbhum. The women protestors accused the government of having a special agenda for bringing in the CAA and NRC laws. They contended that this was the reason why the government, in spite of nationwide opposition was not backtracking on its decision. The speakers said that the Constitution of India and its objectives were not to be played with at the whims of individuals or the government. They said that the agitation would continue until and unless the government withdrew the laws.
It may be recalled that the Muslim women of Mango had observed Roza some days earlier in protest against the CAA and NRC.
