Jamshedpur : Jharkhand Police Sports department chief Aseem Dasgupta has questioned the abilities of international boxer Taruna Mishra and state icon Aruna Mishra.
Aseem who was in Jamshedpur for retrial of the team on Thursday, said, the international medals of boxer Aruna Mishra should be examined. The matter refuses to die down as women from several political outfits visited the DC office and handed over a memorandum addressed to the chief minister and urged him to take strict action.
Headed by BJP leader Priti Sinha, the women political leaders and handed over the memorandum to ADM (Law and Order) Subodh Kumar as DC Amit Kumar was busy in a meeting.
On the occasion all the women said the matter is totally associated with the disrespect of women and we would not tolerate this at any cost. Taruna and Aruna are sisters and they have made Jamshedpur and Jharkhand proud by winning medals.
Government is working for the empowerment of women but these type of officers should be strictly dealt with as they have not only insulted the women but also raised questions of the abilities of these champion women boxers.
The matter would be raised when chief minister arrives in Jamshedpur and would demand strict action against the officer. Present on the occasion were Women congress state president Abha Sinha, working committee president Aparna Guha, JMM Mahila Morcha’s Usha Mahato, Pushpa, BJP’s Meena Prasad, Seema Jaiswal, Congress’ Renu Ahuja, Rajesh Ahuja, Ramashankar Pandey, Sudha Thakur, Tanya Sinha, Sunny, Pramila Jha, Shobha Srivastava and others.
Significantly, Aseem Das Gupta was in Jamshedpur for conducting the retrial of sports team as he had rejected the team selection done on January 5 and termed it illegal and had announced retrial under his supervision.
Upset by the retrial, boxer Taruna Mishra objected to the move after which Aseem raised questions on the boxers’ abilities and their medals raising controversy.
