Jamshedpur, Sept 24 : A tragic incident occurred in Krishna Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Sitaramdera Police Station, where a 55-year-old woman, Maya Rani Ghosh, ended her life by hanging herself at her home.
The incident took place around 2.30 pm on Wednesday.
The tragedy came to light when her son, Tapan Ghosh, returned home from work and found his mother hanging.
He immediately informed the police. A team from Sitaramdera police station reached the spot, and the body was sent for post-mortem. The family received the body after the post-mortem was completed.
Police have initially ruled the case as suicide. Tapan Ghosh stated that his mother had been suffering from prolonged mental stress.
After the death of her husband a few years ago, Maya Rani had been struggling with depression and was undergoing treatment.
The mental strain appears to have driven her to take this drastic step.
Locals described Maya Rani Ghosh as a calm and gentle-natured woman, but the loss of her husband, coupled with illness and loneliness, had taken a heavy toll on her.
