Diarrhoea outbreak hits Patmada, eight admitted to MGM Hospital Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Sept 24 : A severe outbreak of diarrhoea has struck Dhusra village in the Patmada block, affecting the entire tribal Sabar community.

Most households in the village are grappling with the illness, prompting authorities to admit eight patients in critical condition to MGM Hospital in Dimna, where they are receiving emergency treatment.

Suman Sabar, a resident, said four members of her family are currently battling the disease.

Villagers highlighted the lack of even a single handpump in the village, forcing them to rely on contaminated well water during the rainy season, often infested with insects.

This, they claim, is the primary reason behind the rapid spread of diarrhoea.

Residents have also expressed frustration over the inaction of the health department and local administration, citing growing fear and anxiety in the village due to the ongoing health crisis.
