116 students participate in on-the-spot painting competition
Jamshedpur, October 2: Wildlife Week Celebrations 2024 commenced today at the Tata Steel Zoological Park on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti with a formal inauguration by the Chief Guest Saba Alam Ansari, I.F.S, Divisional Forest Officer, Jamshedpur. The Wildlife Week Celebrations 2024 will be celebrated from 2nd October to 6th October, 2024 by organizing several events for schools and college students.
Dr. Manik Palit, Dy. Director cum Officer In-charge, Tata Steel Zoological Park, delivered a welcome speech talking about the importance of Wildlife Conservation. Dr. Seema Rani, Biologist cum Education Officer, Tata Steel Zoological Park and Program Coordinator of the Wildlife Week Celebrations – 2024 informed about the events scheduled in this weeklong celebration.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar Mahato, Curator, Tata Steel Zoological Park, expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards everyone who have in any capacity helped and will be helping in making this weeklong celebration a success.
After the conclusion of the formal inaugural function, On-the-Spot Painting Competition was organized for the Middle Category (Std. VI – Std. VIII) and Senior Category (Std. IX – Std. X) on the topic – “Wildlife Conservation” and “Coexistence with Wildlife” respectively. A total of 116 participants from 15 schools participated in the event. The award for the winners will be given on 06th October, 2024 during the closing ceremony of the weeklong program.
During the program saw the presence of Dr. Naim Akhtar, Dy. Director, Tata Zoo, teachers from city schools, zoo staffs, volunteers from Tata Steel Foundation, Sayok Sarkar, Zoo Intern-cum-Volunteers among other.
Tomorrow Interschool Debate Competition will be organised from 9:00AM at Old Natural Education Center, Tata Zoo.
