Jamshedpur, May 26: Forest department has completed wildlife census at Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary. As per the Census, conducted on 21st and 22nd May last, there are a total of 66 elephants at Dalma.
According to RP Singh, Forest Ranger, Dalma, there are 19 bears, 162 wild boars and 77 deer in the Sanctuary area. The Census was conducted by encompassing all water holes, ponds, rivers, springs and other parts of animal habitats. There are a total of 42 water holes where forest officials made �machan� (platforms on tree tops to keep vigil on animals) to count animals.
In the 2017 animal Census, there were only 46 elephants in Dalma.
