Jamshedpur, August 3: Congress Working Committee’s ‘Permanent Invitee’ and former Jamshedpur MP, Dr Ajoy Kumar took more than a dig at the BJP during a press conference held at the Circuit House. He went hammer and tongs on issues like inflation and unemployment. There was satire in his observation of GST that, he said, meant, ‘Gabbar Singh Tax.’

Referring to a statement made by the Finance Minister there was a minimal percentage hike in inflation,  Dr Ajay said, “The proverb, ‘Andher Nagri Chaupat Raja, Takey Ser Bhaji Takey Ser Khaja’ had never been truer than it is now. According to a report, 71 percent of Indians cannot afford food. Prices of essential medicines have increased by 10.70 mpercent. The GST charges on printing ink, hospital accommodation have leaped to 18 percent. And on the disconcerting unemployment front, the percentage figure as of April has climbed by 7.83 percent.”

Reeling of more attacking statistics, Dr Ajoy Kumar drew attention to soaring pricelines while stating, “In December, 2021, the price of petrol was Rs 95 but in just six months after December last, the price is Rs 107 per liter whereas LPG cylinders cost Rs 900 in December ’21 and today, one is being forced to part with Rs 1,079 presently,” and in a biting remark added, “What is the formula for relief from inflation and unemployment, Modi Ji?”

The Congress leader highlighted the current political scenario and said that appropriate action would be taken against leaders involved in money laundering. He also said that he would urge the Jharkhand government to open another women’s university in Jamshedpur. “I will meet the Deputy Commissioner and urge her to direct the Mercy Hospital management to provide treatment to emergency cases,” he stated.
