Jamshedpur, March 23: West Bokaro defeated Shared Services by 25 – 23, 25 – 18 and 25 – 23 in the final to win Inter Divisional (ID) Volleyball Championship held at Volleyball Court, JRD Tata Sports Complex on March 23.
Irshad Alam of West Bokaro bagged the Best Player award. Earlier, in the third place match Iron Makings beat Jharia Division by 25 – 12, 18 – 25 and 15 – 13.
Sports department of Tata Steel conducted the Inter Divisional Volleyball Championship from 20th to 23rd March where 14 units including West Bokaro, Shared Services, Iron Makings, Long Products, Flat Products, Mines Division, Jharia, TINPLATE, ISWP, Engg & Projects, Profit Center, General Offices, JCAPCPL & FAMD out of the 17 units participated.
Ravi Prasad, President (TWU) was the Chief Guest and distributed the prizes along with Ravi Radhakrishnan Chief (Aviation Services & sports), Praveen Kumar Sinha, Chief HRM (West Bokaro) and Ashish Kumar, Head Sports.
On the occasion Bagicha Singh, Punam, Renu, Sanjay Mishra, Tilak Ram, R K Mishra,
A P Singh and many ex volleyball players were present.
This was the last Inter divisional event of the session 2017 – 18. On the day ID annual prize distribution function was also held.
Overall ID Championship Trophy was given to West Bokaro for scoring 23 points and overall ID runner up trophy was bagged by Shared Services with 22 points. Third place went to General Offices for 19 points.
Highest Participation Trophy was won by Shared Services. Fair Play trophy went to West Bokaro. S K Rai, National Volleyball referee was honored by sports department for his services in the field of Volleyball.
