Jamshedpur: Brahmananda Narayana Multispecialty Hospital observed World Health Day by organizing a week-long health awareness program for the residents of Jamshedpur.
Hospital officials said the aim of organizing the programme was to spread awareness about holistic healthcare and emphasize on preventive healthcare among people residing in and around Jamshedpur.
The hospital organized activities that depicted the three dimensions of ‘health for life’ catering to the physical, mental and societal well-being and not merely addressing any disease or infirmity.
Addressing the aspect of physical well-being of health, a free health check-up was conducted for over 250 people in the proximity of the hospital who are devoid of healthcare facilities. They also distributed medicines to all of them.
Addressing the aspect of mental well-being of health, a stress management counseling workshop was organized by the hospital with support of Rajiv Nair, a renowned motivational speaker, for prisoners of Central Jail in Jamshedpur. The session was an eye-opener for many as they started breaking down realizing their guilt and geared up to start over a new healthy life.
Addressing the dimension of societal well-being, team of doctors and employees of the hospital spent quality time with mentally and physically challenged inmates of Missionary of Charity and Cheshire Home, Jamshedpur. They also provided free health check up and consultation to these inmates.
The week-long series of programs that concluded on World Health Day aided the hospital in reaching out to over 2000people, which includes prisoners, mentally and physically challenged and diseased.
Commenting on the activities, Vineet Saini, Facility Director, Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Jamshedpur, said, �The health programmes rolled-out across various parts of Jamshedpur was true to the WHO mission. We are glad that as an organization we were able to go beyond our defined roles and responsibilities and were able to cater to differently-abled and neglected segments of the society to observe World Health Day. �
World Health Day is observed on April 7 every year to mark the anniversary of the founding of World Health Organization in 1948.
