Jamshedpur FC to face FC Goa today

Jamshedpur, Sep 16: Jamshedpur FC will kick off their Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 campaign against FC Goa on Tuesday, September 17, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda (Goa). The Red Miners are looking to break a four-game winless streak against the Gaurs, who have traditionally dominated the matchup.

With a reputation for guiding teams like NorthEast United to the playoffs, Jamil is determined to start the season on a positive note. He emphasized the importance of a strong start, stating, “We need a good start. Without it, it will be difficult.”

With a squad blended with experience and youth, Jamil has the best opportunity to prove what a homegrown coach can do.

Addressing a press meet on the eve of the match on Monday, JFC coach said, “Enough preparation is there. We need to now perform with confidence and players must take their own responsibility because it won’t be easy. We must maintain that and think positively.”

Talking about injuries, Jamil informed that only Pronoy Halder is unfit. Ritwik Das is still in rehab, but apart from that, everyone else is fine.

Regarding past performance against FC Goa, Head coach further said, “We’re not dwelling on past results. This is a fresh start. FC Goa is undoubtedly a strong team, but we need to focus on giving our best and starting anew.”

“We have begun well with the pre-season training and we are confident heading into the new ISL campaign. Against FC Goa, we will try to put our best foot forward to start the season positively,” Jamshedpur FC goalkeeper Amrit Gope said in the pre-match press conference.

On the other hand, FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez refrains from looking too far ahead at this point of the season.

“I will be taking things one game at a time. It’s not a good thing to think too far ahead. Most of the opponents have a very different style. We need to approach the game correctly. We will be starting from zero and have to do the correct things to win the match, for sure,” Marquez said in the pre-match press conference.
