Water supply disruption sparks outcry at Tatanagar Station

Jamshedpur, April 5: In the midst of scorching temperatures, the disruption in the supply of rail water at Tatanagar station has left passengers clamouring for every drop of water. The halt in Rail Neer supply has prompted frustration among travelers, leading to demands for alternative bottled water. The operator of Food Track restaurant has penned a letter to railway officials, urging authorization to sell water from another brand. Meanwhile, some stall operators have resorted to discreetly offering bottled water from alternate brands.

Rail Neer, typically dispatched from the Danapur plant in Bihar to Tatanagar, has not been forthcoming for three consecutive days, depleting existing stocks and triggering a shortage at the station. In an effort to alleviate passenger inconvenience, other IRCTC-approved brands have been utilized to replenish pantry car supplies aboard trains. However, the restaurant operator has been directed by railway authorities to vend water from an alternative brand, contrary to initial plans.

The disruption has been attributed to a breakdown in the bottle loading machinery at the Danapur plant, necessitating manual loading by workers and causing delays in transportation. Despite these setbacks, assurances have been provided by IRCTC that the supply of Rail Neer will resume from Friday evening, alleviating concerns over the availability of water at the station. Consequently, restaurant and stall operators will no longer be compelled to offer water from alternative brands, ensuring consistency in service provision.
