Water supply disrupted in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 9: Bagbeda Housing Colony is facing severe water supply issues after the motor of the filter plant burned out on Thursday. As a result, approximately 1140 households in the colony have been without water since Thursday night, causing immense hardship for residents during this scorching heatwave.

Although drinking water was provided through tankers on Friday morning, it proved to be insufficient for the affected 1140 houses. This unfortunate situation is not uncommon during the summer season, as the motor of the filter plant, situated near Adityupar Mod in front of the Voltas building in Bistupur, frequently malfunctions, leaving the residents of Baghbeda Housing Colony struggling for water for up to a week.

Ever since the maintenance responsibility of the filter plant was handed over to the panchayat representatives by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, the plant has been plagued with these recurring issues. It is worth noting that a case involving embezzlement of lakhs of rupees during the motor repair at the filter plant is currently being reviewed by the High Court. Subodh Jha, chairman of the Baghbeda Development Committee, highlighted that the Baghbeda Housing Colony, which has a population of approximately 20,000, relies on water supply from this filter plant.
