Water scarcity problem growing bigger in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, March 28: Water scarcity is assuming gigantic proportions in Bagbera. In many areas of Bagbeda including Ranidih, Matladih, Somay Jhopri, Gultu Jhopri, Giddi Jhopri, Ghaghidih, Karandih, the problem of water persists throughout the year. Summer days have started and long queues for water can be seen every morning till late evening. Everyday women, children and men spend two hours of their day in arranging water.
 According to sources, there was a plan to supply water to all these areas through the Giddi Jhopri Large Rural Water Supply Scheme. This scheme, expected to cost Rs 237.21 crore, has not been completed yet. In 2015, the scheme was approved by the erstwhile Raghubar Das government and by 2018 the target was to supply water to every household in the area, a task not accomplished as yet.
