Jamshedpur, June 28: The residents of Rahargora and Barigora are not getting adequate water for the last 20 days. As a result of the ongoing scarcity, water supply to Rahargora Chowk and Barigora has stopped. Local residents rued the situation and demanded immediate relief measures, sources said.
Led by local public representatives, the residents staged a demonstration near Gadra water tower on Tuesday. They said they were compelled to fetch water from sources as far as two to three kilometers. Despite going so far, the water needs are far from being fulfilled, they said.
The agitators threatened to intensify the stir in case water supply is not restored soon. The Executive Engineer of Drinking Water and Sanitation Department Abhay Toppo reached the agitation site and blamed the agency concerned working under the Govindpur water supply project for the situation. He assured to take necessary measures soon to resume the water supply.
