Water released from Chandil Dam on Saryu’s initiative

Jamshedpur, April 26: Chandil Dam authorities released water into the Swarnarekha river on Monday following the request of Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy.

Earlier, acting on Roy’s request, the Dam authorities had released 28 Cumec water into the river.

Sources said Roy had written to the Secretary of Water Resources Department on 2^nd April last for releasing water into the Swarnarekha river. Roy had said that lower water levels in the river resulted in increased level of pollutants and also affected smooth water supply under the Moharda Drinking Water Project. Due to continuous and abundant flow, the river water cures itself of pollution, he said.
