Seraikela: The level of water in River Kharkai has gone down in the last several days. The level of water near the PHED pump-house has gone down considerably.
If the situation continues, the water level may further go down and cause water crisis in the nearby localities. PHED officials said the situation had arisen due to lifting of sand from the eastern end of the riverbank.
Till last year artificial embankment was made with sacks filled with sand. This year however the situation is different due to sand lifting at the riverbank.
