Walkathon at JRD Tata Sports Complex Jamshedpur witnesses enthusiastic participation

Jamshedpur, August 31: To commemorate National Sports Day 2024, a Walkathon was organised at the JRD Tata Sports Complex by the Sports Department of Tata Steel. The event saw overwhelming participation, with over 700 participants across different age categories joining the celebration of fitness and well-being.

The Walkathon was flagged off by Chief Guest Mukesh Agarwal, Chief HRBP Steel, Tata Steel Jamshedpur and other guests Olympian Purnima Mahato,  Bhajan Kaur, Ankita Bhagat, Sanjay Kumar Singh Chairman, Sports Advisory Committee, Abhinav Kumar( Head Mechanical Maintenance Galvanising & Finishing), Vibhuti Dhand Adesara Head Sports ( Events & Training centres ) and Runa Rajeev Kumar, Head Communication Jharkhand, Corporate Communication and Gurmeet Singh Rao, Project Director, Naval Tata Hockey Academy graced the occasion. They also gave away the prizes.

The participants competed in distances ranging from 800 meters to 2.4 kilometres according to their age categories. The event included both men’s and women’s categories, ensuring inclusivity and broad participation.

The enthusiasm and energy of the participants were palpable as they walked the paths within the sports complex, reflecting the spirit of sportsmanship and the importance of staying active. The event was well-organised, with a structured schedule ensuring that all categories had their respective start times, allowing for smooth management of the event.

The top performers in each category were celebrated for their efforts, receiving accolades for their commitment to health and fitness.

This Walkathon was not just a competition but a reminder of the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. Tata Steel remains committed to promoting physical fitness and community well-being, as exemplified by the success of this event.

The organising committee members of the Sports Department Sanjeev Kumar, Ananya Lepii , Satish Singh, Ajit Kumar, Hassan Imam , Saroj Lakra, T Vasudev Rao, Neelam Kumari and Chandeshwar were present during the event.
