W. Singhbhum Zilla Parishad Chairman to be elected tomorrow

Chaibasa, Jan. 18: The election of Zilla Parishad chairman and vice- chairman of West Singhbhum District is scheduled for Wednesday at the local Zilla Parishad Bhavan. The deputy commissioner-cum-district election commissioner will conduct the elections.

Chandra Mohan Prasad Kasyap has been deputed as Prekshak to monitor the elections. ADC Joy Kishore Prasad with two others officers have been deputed as ARO.

As many as 28 Zilla Parishad members of West Singhbhum district will exercise their franchise on the occasion. Zilla Parishad candidates will file their nomination at 11.20 a.m. to 11.40 a.m. The nomination papers will be scrutinized between 11.40 a.m. and 11.50 a.m. The withdrawal would be from 11.50 a.m. to 12.05 p.m.

The list of the candidates will be pasted between 12.05 p.m. and 12. 15 p.m., while the voting will start around 12.20 p.m. The counting of the votes will start at 12.35 p.m. and the results will be announced at 12. 40 p.m.

The oath taking ceremony of Zilla Parishad chairman and vice- chairman will commence at 12.50 p.m.

The high voltage election of Zilla Parishad will be a big challenge to the law and order situation in the region, as it has been presumed that there will be horse trading in the election.

As many as 14 Zilla Parishad members are in collective tour to some holy places and they will be landing like parachute dropping on Wednesday at the time of election.

Considering the situation, the administration has beefed off strong security arrangement and barricaded 200 meters of election venue. The voters will not be allowed to carry mobile phones during the elections.
