Jamshedpur/Khuti, May 5 : In view of second phase of Parliamentary election scheduled tomorrow at Khunti constituency, a joint operation against Maoists was launched by Kuldeep Diwedi, DIG Kolhan along with Jharkhand Police, Jharkhand Jaguwar, Indian Reserve Battalion and many more in the dense forests for peaceful Parliamentary Election-2019 in Saraikela-Kharswan district.

Second phase Parliamentary election is scheduled on May 6 in four constituencies, those are Koderma, Ranchi, Khunti and Hazaribagh. All these Parliamentary constituencies are fully affected by naxals and Maoists. Huge number of forces have been deployed everywhere to keep tight vigil in all the sensitive areas.

Khunti parliamentary constituency, reserved for members of Scheduled Tribes covers the districts of Khunti and Simdega and portions of the Ranchi and Seraikela Kharsawan districts. The constituency has six assembly segments, Kharsawan, Tamar, Topa, Khunti, Kolebira and Simdega, which are also reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. Khunti has become one of Jharkhands high profile parliamentary constituencies after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded Arjun Munda by dropping its eight-term sitting member of Parliament Karia Munda.

According to information, BJP candidate Arjun Munda and his wife will cast their votes at Booth number 172 at Prathmik Vidhyalaya Khelarisai at 9:30 am under Kharsawan assembly area.

Sources informed that there are intelligence inputs that CPI (Maoist) may indulge in demonstrative acts of violence by targeting security forces and economic infrastructure such as trains, buses, railway stations, bus stations and other places where people are likely to gather in significant numbers.

Every effort will be made to maintain law and order and to ensure security of the people. This time all security forces have also been alerted to remain vigilant, particularly against IEDs and landmines,” said another official.

Sources informed that the mobility of the police has prevented the extremists from carrying out any violent activity in past few days in the entire Kolhan. All the police stations in the three districts of  the division including East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela Kharsawan have been asked to beef up the security and keep a vigil at the bordering areas.

A strict vigil would be kept on the non government commercial establishments. Even the security would be beefed up at some of the naxal prone areas of Kharsawan, said the official.
