Voters cautioned on invalid votes in Third phase of Jharkhand Panchayat polls

Jamshedpur, May 23: District Election Officer Vijaya Jadhav and SSP East Singhbhum M Tamil Vanan jointly address media on third phase of the panchayat polls.

It was informed that in the third phase, voters of total 61 panchayats of Bodam (12 Panchayats), Patmada (15 Panchayats) and Potka (34 Panchayats) will exercise their franchise. Appealing to all the voters, to exercise franchise thoughtfully and ensure that vote is not declared invalid.

Expressing concern over the declared invalid votes in the two-phase elections held so far, Vijaya Jadhav said that during the counting of votes, it is often seen that voters are putting stamps at many places, which makes their vote invalid.

It was  informed that a control room has been set up in the collectorate at the district level for continuous monitoring and successful operation of the election work.

Polling parties were dispatched from the dispatch center located at Cooperative College from 8 am today.

The third phase of polling will be held on May 24 (7 am to 3 pm) and counting will be held from May 31 to June 02 (8 am to 8 pm). For the third phase of elections, a total of 269482 voters (133179 male voters, 136302 female voters) will exercise their franchise at 139 polling stations in Bodam block, 167 in Patmada and 401 in Potka block. The counting of votes in the third phase will be done in the Jamshedpur Cooperative college.

SSP M. Tamil Vanan said that a three-tier security arrangement has been made for the conduct of peaceful election work.
