Jamshedpur: International Volunteers Day was celebrated with fervour by the Indian Red Cross Society, Jamshedpur chapter, at Red Cross Building in Sakchi on Wednesday. The chief guest of the occasion was the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum, Amit Kumar.
In his address, the DC said every organization is run by its workers who are its strength. Red Cross is based on volunteerism and its activists are its real strength, he said. Red Cross is an active organization which is busy in various activities round the year, he said.
Kumar said being a volunteer is a matter of pride. Many selfless people are working hard to create a better society and do something for humanity, he said.
Also present on the occasion, social worker Raj Kumar Agrawal said Red Cross needs no introduction as it is a well-known organization dedicated to humanity.
Red Cross member Arun Bankrewal said Red Cross in Jamshedpur is a dedicated organization with a team of energetic members helping the society.
