Jamshedpur, Jan 12: Vivekanand International School students organized a Swachhta (cleanliness) Awareness rally on the occasion of Swami Vivekanand’s birth anniversary that is also celebrated as National Youth Day. The students took a pledge on Thursday following which the Swachhta rally was organized.
The day’s programme at the school included several events that highlighted the thoughts and messages of Swami Vivekanand. Mango Municipal Corporation (MMC) City Manager Nishant Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion. MMC brand ambassador Mukhtar Alam Khan, Engineer Firoz Aslam, Sanitation inspector Anshuman Kumar, Md Kasim, Rajesh Kumar and Syed Asif Akhtar were present on the occasion.
Students presented songs and speeches based on Swamiji’s famous Chicago speech, his Swadesh Mantra and his life and messages. Principal Dr Nidhi Srivastava, in her welcome address spoke on the importance of Youth Day. She also made special mention of the E-waste disposal scheme under the cleanliness mission.
Chief Guest Nishant Kumar explained in detail about the cleanliness mission, how to dispose of wet and dry waste and the vital role cleanliness played in individual and social spheres. He administered the Oath of Cleanliness to students, teachers and parents present at the programme. Mukhtar Alam Khan, Nishant Kumar and Dr Nidhi Srivastava flagged off the rally in which the students carried messages of Swami Vivekanand on placards.
