Violent attack on Drug De-Addiction Centre in Jamshedpur, several injured

Jamshedpur: A violent mob of youths armed with sharp weapons attacked a drug de-addiction centre in Mango, located just 50 meters from the Uliidih police station on the Mango Dimna main road. The attack left the centre vandalised, its workers injured, and nearby businesses and vehicles damaged.
Dozens of assailants stormed the de-addiction centre, beating three staff members with sticks, rods, and hammers. The violence quickly spread to nearby shops and hotels, where the attackers continued their rampage, damaging property and assaulting anyone in their path, including a tempo driver and street vendors.
When the police arrived to control the situation, they too were attacked by the mob. Initially forced to retreat, the police later returned with reinforcements, arresting several of the criminals. The detained individuals brazenly challenged the police, citing political connections.
BJP leader Vikas Singh arrived at the Uliidih police station after receiving reports of the violence. He was met with threats from Mohammad Raja, a supporter of the attackers, warning him to stay out of the matter. Singh, however, demanded the immediate arrest of those involved, emphasizing that no one, regardless of their influence, should be above the law. Singh reported the incident to the Senior Superintendent of Police, seeking stringent action against the perpetrators.
The situation grew tense as hundreds of people from a particular community gathered at the Uliidih police station in support of the arrested individuals, threatening to block roads if their demands for release were not met. In response, BJP leader Vikas Singh raised slogans to assure the public of the district administration’s support and intervention.
The  situation was brought under control by the timely intervention of Patamda DSP. The injured were taken to MGM Hospital for treatment. The entire episode was recorded on CCTV, clearly showing Congress leader Ismail Azad among the instigators, using political clout to intimidate.
