Violent Assault on Ranchi Civil Court Advocate and Youth Congress State Vice President in Khunti

Khunti/Ranchi: A shocking incident unfolded as Ranchi Civil Court advocate and elected member of the District Bar Association, Jyoti Anand, along with Youth Congress leader Nisha Bhagat, were brutally attacked, resulting in serious injuries. The assault occurred after the duo, accompanied by friends, attended a private function at Jyoti’s farmhouse in the Silda area of Khunti district.

Upon reaching the farmhouse, a group of 10-12 individuals, including Kaiser Ali of Silda and his son Firdaus Ali, confronted them with weapons, initiating a violent altercation. Advocate Jyoti Anand sustained internal injuries, while Nisha Bhagat suffered a fractured hand in the incident. Nisha Bhagat holds the position of State Vice President of Youth Congress.

Both victims underwent a medical examination at the government hospital in Khunti. The attack follows previous threats made by Qaiser Ali and Firdaus Ali against advocate Jyoti Anand. In response to these threats, Jyoti had filed an FIR against Qaiser Ali and others at the Khunti police station on September 5, accompanied by an appeal to the Khunti SP for protection.

The roots of this disturbing episode trace back to a land dispute. According to advocate Jyoti Anand, she had purchased land in Silda Mauza of the Khunti police station area in 2021 with the intention of building a house. However, for the past six months, Qaiser Ali and his two sons, residents of Silda village, have allegedly subjected her to harassment and extortion. Their audacity escalated to forcibly uprooting the water pipe from the boring installed within Jyoti’s property. In response, Jyoti had previously written a letter to the Khunti SP, documenting the ongoing harassment and seeking intervention to safeguard her life.
