Villagers against bandobasti

Jamshedpur: The villagers of Hitku village today handed over a memorandum to the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal and demanded that the district administration should cancel the bandobasti of liquor shops carried out in their village.

Zila Parishad member Sunita Sah said she supported the demand of villagers for re-considering its decision on bandobasti of liquor shops in Hitku village.

She said the district administration had not consulted the gram sabha before carrying out the bandobasti. They said the village was under Scheduled Area and hence the gram sabha should be consulted by the administration before taking any such decision.
