Vikram Sharma Murder Case: Emerging Jamshedpur Gang Linked to Dehradun Killing, Police Probe Gang Rivalry Angle

Jamshedpur: Fresh revelations are emerging in the Vikram Sharma murder case, with investigators uncovering possible links to an emerging criminal gang from Jamshedpur. Sharma was shot dead in Dehradun, and police are now piecing together evidence that suggests the killing may have been the result of escalating gang rivalry.

According to sources involved in the investigation, the alleged shooters are believed to be members of a relatively new gang that has risen in prominence in Jamshedpur over the past few years. The gang’s leader was sent to jail two years ago in connection with a murder case, but was later released on bail. He had previously survived a bomb attack near Marine Drive in Sonari.

Police sources indicate that this gang had earlier eliminated members of the Amarnath gang operating in Mango, consolidating its influence in parts of the city. Investigators suspect that the same group meticulously planned the Vikram Sharma killing.

The probe has further revealed that tensions between the new gang and the Akhilesh Singh gang had intensified following clashes inside jail. The rivalry reportedly spilled over into disputes over contracts and other illegal operations, deepening animosity between the two factions.

Dehradun police have also found that local criminals allegedly assisted the Jamshedpur shooters. Local operatives are believed to have helped conduct reconnaissance, determine Sharma’s movements, arrange logistics, and finalize the location of the attack. Investigators suspect that the broader objective was to weaken the Akhilesh Singh network by targeting a key associate.

Sources suggest that the initial target was a Baghbera-based close aide of Akhilesh Singh. However, when that plan failed, the focus reportedly shifted to Vikram Sharma, who was considered a significant figure linked to the network. Sharma had recently visited Jamshedpur to attend a Radha Soami Satsang event, and it is believed that the accused had already begun tracking his movements.

Preliminary findings indicate that after executing the attack in Dehradun, the shooters fled via Himachal Pradesh to Haryana and later moved to Uttar Pradesh to evade arrest.

Following reports of possible gang war escalation, Jamshedpur police have stepped up surveillance across the city. Known gang members are under close watch, and intelligence networks have been activated to track any retaliatory movements. Security has also been tightened at Dumka jail, where Akhilesh Singh remains lodged.

Authorities are maintaining heightened vigilance amid concerns that the Dehradun killing could trigger renewed gang violence in Jharkhand’s criminal landscape.
